I have about 22K miles on my car and the OEM tires are about as bald as can be. I don't have much $$ but need to replace them none-the-less. Cheapness counts and I don't race it, so I think I can get by with a less than expensive tire for the next couple of years. I would like to replace all four but cannot afford to, so it looks like I'll have a mis-matched set. I am possibly looking into some Falken tires (about $170 each) for the rear (non-run-flat). Any other tires out there that I might consider?

Unless you can find someone who has some they have taken off and are selling cheap, the Falken's sound low buck.

Tire Rack (http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/phpAdsNew-2.0/phpAdsNew-2.0/adclick.php?bannerid=14&zoneid=1&source=&dest=http%3A//service.bfast.com/bfast/click?bfmid=37919709&siteid=41060816&bfpage=tires)

Surf their site, they will show you all the tire options for your C5, and you can see what is cheapest. You can also see reviews of the tires by people who have purchased the tires.

Check out eBay. I picked up some odd sized performance snow tires for my wife's TT last Fall for less than half what any tire place wanted. Shippings is about $10 per tire. Big O mounted and balanced them for like $8 a piece. Brian

Oh my. Runflats are expensive to replace. I am preparing for the cost of replacing 4 tires. At Les Swabb, tires run about $400 bills a piece. That is off the hook! However, it is still expensive, but I am going to have to pay the cost.;)

Good luck in finding some tires that are good for your vette and that the price is what you can afford.:)

Thanks for all of the input. I have yet to decide what brand I'll go with. How long do you think I can use the junk-flats until they are totally trashed? Don't want to screw up my rims or anything. Keep an eye on the tire pressure monitor?

I've been running on a set of Continental ContiExtremeContacts (WR speed rated) since 3/06/03 and I love them. I drive aggressively but have never done any racing. If you don't mind giving up the the runflats they are pretty economical. I got them from tirerack.com and they were $538 for the set plus $34 for shipping. Here's a link to what I wrote about them a year ago after I got them on my coupe.
