First off.. welcome to the site. You don't have an L88 unless someone put one in there. More likely L48 or L82. The L88 was a bad ass big block from the late 60's.

On the left rear of the block you will see a GM number, get that and the numbers from the pad on the front of the passenger side in front of the head. With those we can tell you what your engine is.

3970010 only identifies that it is a 350 and was used in cars, trucks, and corvettes from 1969 to 1979. Try to get the number off the front. It is on the block in front of the head.

There is a small pad on the block in front of the head. Looks like this:

The fifth digit of your VIN identifies the original engine installed in your car. 8 for the base engine L-48; 4 for the optional L-82.

The L-88 was available only for the 68 and 69 model years.

...vo925tbx...

Bad news; your engine is not original. TBX indicates a 79 350 truck block.

...t9t705648...

This VIN derivitive is not Corvette. Check again. It might be 19T705648 T might be the plant code for Tarrytown, New York. 1979 Corvette VIN derivitives would be 19S4xxxxx
1 for Chevrolet; 9 for model year; S plant code for St. Louis, Missouri, 4xxxxx for consecutive unit number.

Possibly further bad bews. If your avatar pic is your 79, two tone paint was not available. It's been painted.
