Bloomington Gold, The Ultimate Corvette Show
By Bob Hardy - digitalcorvettes.com
For those of you lucky enough to make it to the Bloomington Gold show this year, there will be plenty to see and do. Gold Rush, (Corvette auction) Gold Mine (Corvettes for sale by owner), and Gold Market (vendors and exhibitors), to name a few. Also, Gold Invitation (Callaway Corvette reunion) and Special Collection XX (Corvettes of Reeves Callaway) are featured.
2004 marks the 50th anniversary, or "Gold Year" of the 1954 Corvette. All '54 Corvettes will be welcomed as complimentary guests and will serve as Grand Marshals leading the Gold Tour. The '54's and '04's will be displayed together to illustrate the many changes in style and technology over the past 50 years.
Start your day at Gold Field and you can park among Corvettes only. All Gold Field Corvettes are automatically registered for the Gold Tour on Saturday afternoon. Imagine thousands of Corvettes motoring together along country roads and through quaint small towns.
Register to sell your Corvette in the Gold Rush auction, where more rare and expensive Corvettes have been sold than anywhere else. If you have a few extra bucks burning a hole in your pocket, you may be able to pick up the Corvette of your dreams at either the Gold Rush auction or at the Gold Mine, where Corvettes are for sale by owners. Both the Gold Rush auction and Gold Mine sales run for the full four days.
Gold School is an opportunity for you to bone up on any number of subjects, all related to helping you learn more about your Corvette. Courses range from buying and selling, to restoration and repair. For those of you interested in how the judging works, there is a certification class that prepares you to be a Bloomington Gold judge.
All in all it's going to be a great four day event. An opportunity to meet other Corvette enthusiasts, see some of the best Corvettes in the country, and just enjoy hanging out with other Corvette nuts. Who knows, maybe you'll sell your Corvette, buy yourself one you've had your eye on for some time, pick up a little knowledge in one of the classes, or maybe even become a Bloomington Gold judge!
No matter how much or how little you do, enjoy the show and bring lots of pics back to the DC forum.
Event dates are Thursday, June 24 through Sunday, June 27, 2004.
