I want to go to the LeMans race this coming year. Can anybody give me some advice on where to stay, what to see and what not to do. Do you have to stay in LeMans or can you take the train from Paris everyday? How long of a train ride is it? Would I miss too much of the LeMans experience if I stayed in Paris? What is there to see the week before? There must be many activities, practice sessions, etc. Any favorite hotels in LeMans? Are they all booked already?

The best place to stay in Le-Mans is on the campings, you are close to the track then and the atmosphere is just great.
Things you really have to see is the Le-Mans drivers parade in the town Le-Mans. The parade is on the friday before raceday and starts about 18:00.
Going with the train every day from Paris to Le-Mans is just a crazy idea, tou would be sitting on the train for a verry long time then

That is a big question. I will try to help where I can.
Firstly a hotel in Le Mans town will be very expensive and it is doubtful that you will be able to book direct even at this early stage. You could try a specialist tour operator in the UK as many of the spectators are from England. If you do get a room you will need to rent a car to get to the circuit. Access to the circuit can get congested.
This year, my group have reserved an entire hotel 30 miles form the circuit.
Camping is (in my opion) for the young and hardy as the French are not exactly famous for their Bathroom facilities, but you can get close to the action - bear in mind that C6-R V8 may become tedious if you are trying to sleep!!
A grandstand seat could be hard to get now but the circuit is long and a car would help you spectate from different places.
Once you get there you will need to park your car - last year Corvette Europe sold packages which included hospitality, car parking and trackside viewing in a small grandstand and on top of their lorry. They also could provide you with a tent and we had our own showers and toilets . Their package is definately a must if you are coming.
Corvette Europe is: http://www.corvette-europe.com/index.aspx?ChapterID=3935&FilterID=1006
It would be a good idea to register for their newsletter.
The Le mans web site is: http://www.lemans.org/accueil/index.html
Other sites where Le Mans is discussed are: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?f=25&h=0
You could also try the UK Corvette Club at www.corvetteclub.org.uk
I hope I have helped but you will proably have more questions - try posting them on the UK Corvette Club site - we have many Le Mans regulars.
Don't be put off - If you do make it (and I hope you do) look out for me in my Yellow 2003 Convertible with the stars and stripes hood.
Not sure the Paris thing would work.
I see that you live in Thosand Oaks - I know the area very well as my sister lived in Westlake Village for many years. I also bought a 1981 from a filling station owner there whilst we were visiting once. What a wonderful place to live.............
