Sen. Chris Buttars (R-Utah), despite his adamant support for an earlier proposition that banned same-sex marriage, does believe that sexual orientation deserves protection from employer and landlord abuse. However, while explaining his opposition to allowing same-sex couples to adopt children, he told the press that while he doesn’t “mind” gays, he doesn’t want them “stuffing it down [his] throat all the time“:

BUTTARS: I meet with the gays here and there. They were in my house two weeks ago. I don’t mind gays. But I don’t want ‘em stuffing it down my throat all the time. Certainly not in my kid’s face.

Climate Skeptics See 'Smoking Gun' in Researchers' Leaked E-Mails

Hackers broke into the...

Hackers broke into the servers at a prominent British climate research center and leaked years worth of e-mail messages onto the Web, including one with a mysterious reference to a plan to "hide the decline" in data about temperatures.

The Internet is abuzz about the leaked data from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (commonly called Hadley CRU), which has acknowledged the leak of 61MB of confidential data.

Climate change skeptics describe the leaked data as a "smoking gun," evidence of collusion among climatologists and manipulation of data to support the widely held view that climate change is caused by the actions of mankind. The files were reportedly released on a Russian file-serve by an anonymous poster calling himself "FOIA."

In an exclusive interview in Investigate magazine's TGIF Edition, Phil Jones, the head of the Hadley CRU, confirmed that the leaked data is real.

"It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago," he told the magazine, noting that the center has yet to contact the police about the data breach.

TGIF Edition asked Jones about the controversial "hide the decline" comment from an e-mail he wrote in 1999. He told the magazine that there was no intention to mislead, but he had "no idea" what he meant by those words.

"That was an e-mail from ten years ago. Can you remember the exact context of what you wrote ten years ago?" he said.

The Telegraph has posted some of the more scathing excerpts from these emails, which the newspaper suggests points to manipulation of evidence and private doubts about the reality of global warming, though the much of the scientific language in the e-mails is esoteric and hard to interpret.

But one notable e-mail clearly describes how to squeeze dissenting scientists from the peer review process:

"I think we have to stop considering Climate Research as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…What do others think?"

I was leaving Queretaro...

I was leaving Queretaro yesterday, when I reached the edge of the town, is a 4-lane highway, which is steep and winding, for about 3 miles, then get down at a line 2 miles, passed a Belair Chevelle 1957? clings to my rear bumper surprising me, then in my mirror I see a Camaro 72? accompanied by a Mustang 98? and a '73 fastback, I was listening to my music at 55MPH, enjoying the journey, and I was upset, thinking these stupid almost hit me, and as a coincidence at this point enters the programming of my music, a Rolling Stones song Jumping Jack Flash, was when I thought I was driving like a grandfather, between the cars and I had already had a distance of 1/4 mile, I step on the accelerator, and my surprise was that my car seemed to be offended, and ran like a wild animal, I must confess that even I was afraid of losing control, because although the track is very steep, my car did not seem to mind, just before I reach the top of the highway had to pass them on the right with a exeed of they speed by about 20 miles per hour, which seemed they was slow running, going down on the right lane I just saw that the speedometer needle was near the end, and a highway patrol that turns on their lights at the time I said "SHIT" I saw the back mirror and I thought "at least I will not be the only one alone" but at the same time thought my chances to escape in a run against a police officer had a Charger SRT brand new, I did something stupid, in full throttle down I made the runaway, was in full panic, watching the cars seemed like to be circulating in the opposite direction, so fast that left them behind, and so continue running for about 5 minutes until I gave up exhausted and stop accelerating, to my surprise I didn´t see anyone behind me, in the next return,I take the road back and hidden behind a trailer truck for about 20 min. and missed watching the cars pass, but no patrols, no Mustang, Camaro or anything ... ??? calm and took the road back when suddenly I see three patrol cars with 8 prisoners including some modern sports cars that I did not see! emboldened me and I tap the horn of my car that is the song "La Cucaracha" and greet with the universal greeting of a finger, confident that the returns were several miles from where they stood, seeing they pointed to me to the cop.

LONDON — A British man who said he strangled his wife during a nightmare about fighting off an intruder has been found innocent in her death.

Prosecutors had originally asked a jury to find Brian Thomas not guilty by reason of insanity, which could see him sent to a psychiatric hospital. But they withdrew the case against him on Friday, and said expert opinion was that hospitalization was not appropriate.

"It is now clear that the psychiatrists feel that that would serve no useful purpose and the risk of reoccurrence is very, very small," said Iwan Jenkins, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Dyfed Powys region in Wales. "We therefore have offered no further evidence and asked the jury to return a simple verdict of not guilty."

Thomas had accepted he had killed Christine, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 40 years, the jury was told at the beginning of his trial earlier this week.

The Thomases, who lived outside Swansea, about 185 miles west of London, were on holiday in their camper van in July 2008. After having their sleep disturbed by cars racing nearby, Brian Thomas had a nightmare that someone was breaking into the van.

The court was told that Brian Thomas suffered from a long-term sleep disorder and was in a state of automatism — where his mind had no control over his body — when he strangled Christine, with whom he had two daughters.

Jenkins said sophisticated tests by sleep experts were needed to confirm Thomas' condition, and that fewer than 50 instances had been recorded worldwide.

High Court Justice Nigel Davis called Thomas a "decent man and devoted husband" and said he understood that the 59-year-old would feel guilty.

But "in the eyes of the law, you bear no responsibility for what happened," Davis said.

I just got this beauty, and have a small paint chip on the upper edge of the hood, towards the windshield. The car is Magnetic Red and I did get some touch up paint from the local dealer, it looks purple, Code 86 if that helps. If it's the right color, any special prep needed before I "dab" it on ? Also, as I have been spending most of Happy Hour (Miller Lite) in the garage with it, the 3" or so of rust on the ID of the rotor is starting to get to me.

It has been years since GM did something like this for Corvette.
It was on the C5 generation in fact the last time we had such an incentive.

If you remember that was only for a VERY short specfic time line too.

Now for 2009 Corvette close-outs, we have such an incentive until the end of the year. VERY COOL INDEED!

Let's face it cash flow is tough and even it is not in your particular case, having 0% available on a car you have been wanting, you deserve just makes this easier to happen for you and your family.

Here's a collectible for you Corvette guys who like to have the really, really rare stuff in your display case. This 1/18th scale C5R is a prototype that was created by Action back in '01, witha special brushed metal finish. It was made for the buyers at QVC, who were going to feature it on their "For Race Fans Only" show, but they chose not to pick it up. Therefore no brushed metal versions were ever produced as part of a regular production run. Talk about hard to find!
Junkman is DaMan, and I wish he lived 5 hours further South on I65, for the Vette knowledge, and for the cooking. I turned 60 a few weeks ago, and my wife of almost 40 years, finally gave me the OK. I was able to find a 2001 Vert, Magnetic Red, 6 speed w/ B&B exaust, PRT tips. Looks and sounds like a dream. Thanks again, Y'all.
