1980 Corvette rebuild.

Well after buyng this car on impulse, and not doing the research required. I am now forced to do a frame off rebuild, in order to make it decent to drive for years to come. But the way i see it, they are all worth saving, so what the hell?

Progress so far.

Found out that the gas tank is a thick plastic fuel cell wrapped in 2 pieces of sheet metal. I had to make a small patch to fix it. And install a new sender seal.

I also like to make things different color lol. Cant stand an all black underneath.

Engine is out, what a mess.

The frame is at the sand blasters getting cleaned and a nice semi gloss black epoxy sealer applied to it. I have been under the car for 2 days now scraping and cleaning the under body. I have all my brake lines and fuel lined to put back on the frame once i get it back. I also have all new suspension and steering for the car just waiting to go back on. Will post more pics as it goes back together.

I guess you've got plenty of access to fix up the rotten channels under the body! That's a helluva lot of progress. How long did it take you?

Thanks guys. I bought the car in Sept 2008 and got at it right away. I needed to take a break, so i wasn't working on it steady, just as time would allow. Now i have the urge again to get busy on it so i need to get off the internet and go out to the garage. The body and paint is in decent shape, the interior needs a carpet set but thats it. So depending on how fussy i get after i get it back on the road? I may gut the interior instead and go through it as well.

I picked up the frame from the sandblaster today, it looks pretty damn good. lololol. I started putting the brake lines on, and will have to buy a roll of 3/8 steel fuel line and bent it all myself.
