Thanks for the positive feedback. The car feels virtually the same to me. The only difference seems to be airflow. Chevy did a great job stiffening up the c4 body. On the other hand one day I jacked up my C3 with the 454 running while trying to find a muffler rattle. Suddenly the fan began rubbing the fan shroud, now that body flexes. I've not noticed anything like that with this project.

Aim above morality. Be not simply good, be good for something, and ask yourself two questions:

1. Have you felt and known joy in your life
2. Have you given joy to someone else ....

Tell everyone about your car!

Thanks for the welcomes and the interest. This was my first, (yes I said first) fiberglass project. I learned a lot about itching and sticky hands, and even more about sculpting foam. As far as the pictures outside, I can't get it to start.

I first thought it was the fuel pump since it would fire up on starting fluid. But after replacing everything but the lines, I now have plenty of fuel pressure and still no start. I hooked up a noid light and apparently I'm getting no power to the injectors. I'm now back to reading tech blogs and articles trying to figure out what to do next. As soon as I get it going I'll post some better "outdoor" pictures, thanks again.

Man, we have all been there!

You might try starting here. Lots of good info. There are some incredible techs in that section of DC that can help!

Looking forward to the outdoor pictures!

Progress at last

Thanks for all the great encouragement from everyone! We had a breakthrough today. The Ignition Module change made no difference at all. I had an extra 85 ECM laying around so I dug it out and found that it wouldn't plug in to my 84. During the inspection I discovered that one plug on the ECM was loose. I carefully reinstalled it and suddenly the noid light worked. I also have fuel coming through the injectors too. But now it won't continue to run beyond a second or two, it then pops and dies. disappointing yes, but much better than before. I checked and there aren't any failure codes now, go figure it won't start but there's no failure codes. I'll keep trying to sort it out, thanks for the great ideas and instructions, I do use them and have learned a ton. I'll give it another shot later this week. Thanks again and if anyone knows were I should start this time, I'm open for more suggestions.

Since I had never worked with large amounts of fiberglass before I had some very sweaty palms when I broke out the sawsall. After this project I now have absolutely no doubt that I could build a Callaway replica, however making that decision would put me in the concept, design and mock-up stage for several years. Not to mention the financial commitment. Since it's now late fall in Michigan the car is in storage, but I'll try to add some pictures from construction and current condition later today.
As a point of clarification, production Callaway Speedsters used a new, one-piece rear section. It was not a grafted-in piece.

If you look at Speedster #001, you will know what I am talking about, compared to the rest
