Also, who's "word" are you talking about?? As I remember it, a whoooooooooole lot of promise were broken from day one. But hey, those promises wouldn't have affected you...so who cares!
While they were praying in schools...some folks weren't allowed to attend ...and when they finally were allowed, it was a living hell for them.
I could go on and on and on, but why??

My kids school system still says the pledge and uses the word god.
They also have a working relationship with local churches and allow them to rent the school gym and auditorium for events.
The misconceptions that Beck fosters is astounding.

What misconceptions would those be?
My kid's school says the pledge, but does not mention the word god, not that that bothers me. But you can't assume just because your local school system does something, that everyone else has the same choice.

Wow.
This thread went from guns to politics pretty quick.
What I found intersting though is that many gun companies stock value tripled this past year before the election.
S&W, Ruger, charter arms, etc.
Some comapnies are 6 months behind in orders fulfillment and some have stopped atking orders.
A couple months ago I was looking to buy a 2 1/2 " barrel S&W .357 Mag for a bedside gun. NOBODY had them in stock and I think I found one of the last one's in Texas (of course)
Ammo is going through the roof too!
I was told that buying quality hand guns and keeping them (unused in original box) for the long haul will be a better investment than gold as the price will go up 300% in the next 5 years.
I am not a super paranoid freak, but my father told me that any man in this family will know how to protect a family of his own.
I will always have a dog at the foot of my bed at night and a weapon within reach.
I also believe that nothing says home home defense like the sound of a pump action 12 gauge on the other side of a door.
And I do believe in God. I have seen too many things not too.

Pickup an early edition of the Blue Book, and compare to the latest edition. Elections always seem to result in price increases. I more than doubled my investment in a pre-ban HK94 in 08.

uh, you need to learn a little about firearms....a .50cal rifle, ie Barrett M82A1, may have a max range of 5 miles but that is NOT how far the bullet will travel. The max range is determined by how far the bullet could travel in a vacuum not affected by gravity or friction.
Shooting at ranges that far you are going to run into more problems than can be compensated for. Curvature of the earth being one of the largest. You also need to compensate for differences in wind, temperature, humidity along the entire route of the bullet. Let us not forget friction and gravity. In order to shoot at anything 5 miles away, you will have to be several hundred feet in the air to compensate for bullet drop due to gravity and decreasing velocity. A 5 mile shot is not going to happen. ever.
Then there is also the little problem of MoA. The .50 round just is not accurate enough to hit a point target reliably at 2 miles, much less 5 miles. It is an anti-material round and does not have the inherent accuracy to hit a point target at range.
The king of long distance, point target shooting, is the .408 Chey-Tac. The round was designed by ballistic engineers with the goal of extreme accuracy at extreme ranges.
The current distance record is approx 1700m by a british sniper in iraq. To make that shot, it took him around 10 shots to get 1 on target- he ended up aiming 18' off target to compensate for wind drift.
