As for posting original thoughts, I always post original thouights with back up links to articles when needed, and you guys always call me a liberal, so I guess you have seen original thought from what you consider a liberal.

I have to disagree, Preacher puts alot of his own comments in the articles he pastes. Not everytime, but still I think the majority have his own thoughts either before or right after the article.
I thought the idea of a news rooms, was to paste news articles.
I don't have a current Vette project, I don't have the time. Hopefully by the end of next year I can start looking for a good 80-82 C3. I read a lot of this site, mostly in the C3 sections. I don't really have anything to say yet, but the wealth of info coming through cannot be found anywhere else. Should we become non-members when we don't have a current Vette?
Sure, we mostly post in the news room.. but that don't make it the only reason we hang here.

I'm a little more worried about the $16 trillion in debt that we have to some how pay down. And Reid just up'd it by $2.4 trillion. Assuming out of 300 million, maybe 100 million actually pay taxes (excludes kid, retired, unemployed, etc.) that comes out to $160,000 per tax payer...not sure how we can pay it down. My pockets aren't that deep.
Maybe someone can enlighten me and show me the numbers? I'm an engineer...I can comprehend some pretty complex math...go for it.

Did you go back and read?? I know you wasn't talking directly to me, but seeing as I've added threads and posts that goes against the grain on both sides of the aisle, only the conservatives here had ugly and negative things to say. I do expect that here, as the majority of conservatives here are hyper-partisan.

Well yes it does....after WWII our national debt was 113% of GDP, and was paid down over the years after the war. Is that what you meant???

Not even close.. the problem is that you can't tax income at a rate of 100% and keep up with spending. 4 budget items, mandatory spending, cost more than the entire revenue of the Federal Government.
Get a calculator.

Newb....after WWII our national debt was indeed 113% of GDP. Recently the CBO said that at the end of 2012 we would be near 70% of GDP. There certainly is time to fix what ails the country if we get seriuos. We certainly cannot tax enough to pay off the debt, but we can tax appropriatly while growing the economy, and cutting spending which will not only shrink the debt to GDP ratio but also pay down that debt. But the debt was not created in one day and we should certainly not try to pay it off in one day.

Just bear in mind that at the end of WWII, the world needed some rebuilding and the US was owed a lot of money from the losers.
you sure it's the same this time?
