Well, if they were '53s they'd all be white.
If they were '55s they would have shown off copper and green as well.
The only time that red, white, blue & black represented that style Corvette was '54.

I think it was a GM promotional shot. I remember seeing this photo in one of my dad's corvette book when i was a kid. there was a photo in a nearby page of a factory worker holding the fiberglass tub/frame up in the air with one hand.
