Gas cap problems........
Uh-Oh!! My dashboard keeps reading: Check Gas Cap. I tried to tighten it a few times, but it still keeps coming up on the dash after I reset it. So, does that mean I need a new gas cap?

This ought to help...
:: gas-cap-c6-zo6-problems.
PS: Keep in mind that the proper manner of action, as stated in the letter, is to not apply a downward force when tightening the fuel cap.

I had this problem several times with my '09. I bought 3 new gas caps, and they worked for 6 months or so and then went bad again. When the message would come up on the DIC, I could tell that the cap wasn't locking properly when it clicked. The cap would be loose in the filler neck. Eventually I learned that if I turned the gas cap counter-clockwise until it clicked a time or two, it would start locking properly when tightened to one click clockwise. You might try that. Once the message shows on the DIC, you will continue to get it for a few days after the fix. I guess the computer is just programmed that way.

I had this same issue, on my 05'. I had to get a cap from the dealer. The AutoZone ones were not locking right. I went through two of them before going to the dealer. Good luck.

JUST AN fyi,THERE HAS BEEN A 10YR/120,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE GAS CAPS SINCE 2005 when the problem started.So replacement is free.The bad news is,they didn't change anything so it'll break again!
