alternator whine key off!

My alternator is making an electrical whine with key off... Goes away when power connector is unplugged.

How's it getting power with no ignition?

My nickes worth is that your Corvette has a single wire charging system. That means the big wire is the power and charging connection. This is always connected to the battery. The plug you are playing with is for the computer/guages.

Now the part I can't help alot. but If it was mee I would take the alternator to a parts store and have it checked. I'm guessing the output sensor in the alternator went south or you have a bad wiring harness in your car. Hope somebody else will also chime in if I'm wrong

Just noticed my windows work with key off.. Is this in conjunction with my alt whine? Short to power or something stuck?

Problem found.. The wire from the starter was touching the exhaust manifold.
