Doctor Rebuild?
Wow, lots of unique items like the electrical and vacuum diagrams, and some parts that I don't see anywhere else. So after two days off and on trying to get an order together, I finally get it placed.
Come home tonight to a condescending email insinuating I'm a dumbass and can't read his BIG BOLD PRINT, and a cancelled order!
How about just an explanation and maybe an I'm sorry we can't ship until you change a couple things etc... ?
Does this guy have an attitude problem or something? He lost a $370 order, and I'll reorder it from someone else! I'm really dissapointed, I liked his catalog.

The reason I never ordered anything from his site was cause it's a PITA. I never liked his site setup as you can't use a credit card or PayPal to check out right there on the site.

You can use a credit card now. I entered all my card info but had bill and ship addresses the same. This what he spanked me about. Even though I was asked for it and entered it on another page. So he had the info anyway. I'm really just mostly insulted by the attitude in the email cancelling my order, and the fact that I'm out two or three days time now. Dang...

Doc Rebuild has been around a long time and is set in his ways. He is a reputable vendor if you do things his way.

I helped a friend work on his 'vette and he had some of his wiring diagrams. They were great. Sorry to hear it is difficult to deal with his site.

You gotta call. The wiring diagrams are absolutely the best out there. If you call, chances are you'll get his wife. She's nice to deal with, just have your doo-doo together. I have never had a problem with them, but I always call.
Don't scratch him off your supplier list. I have had problems with all the suppliers, mosly on fitment issues. I have had no fitment issues with the Drs. parts. The biggest downside is his rather restrictive return policy. If you are one to order parts to install in a couple of months, he's probably not the one to order from.

Even the people who are simi-defending him seem to know he is hard to work with or would rather deal with his wife. Not a good sign...

All I can say is the stuff you buy from him is right. Look at the bright side, If he's gruff to his cutomers what is he like to the vendors

I agree he is worth overlooking because his parts are second to none. I have found the best way is to pick up the phone and call him. You will need all the part numbers before you do. From what I understand he does not have a staff and they need the orders as stream line as they can get them. They will answer questions about the parts you want so be patient and you will not regret it when every part fits. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. Mark

As posted above, things might be a little different dealing with doc, but it's worth it!
I pick up the phone when ordering from them. I'm polite and accurate and I'm treated the same. No regrets.
Indeed, his parts are second to none!

I have been a customer for decades. Just follow the procedure. Unfortunately, it seems that they have dropped quite a few items from their product line and the "hard to find" parts benefit they have been famous for is waning. I just punched in a ton of parts numbers from my catalog and they came back "not found". This is not a good sign. Very discouraging.

I have 3 sets of weatherstripping at the shop. Unfortunately, I did not order from him until the fourth set. I tried eBay first, and bought the cheapest I could find. It was crap and after destropying th et-top weatherstripping, I tossed the rest in the corner of my garage. $250 down the tubes there.
Then I went to a supplier and got weatherstripping along with all my suspension rebuild parts. Looked to be good stuff, but was thick and hard. I knew I would never get my doors closed over this stuff. It is in a box with my parts for the 73.
The third set came from one of the most reputable suppliers out there. These are the guys I get almost ALL my stuff from. Bought all my small pieces from and still do. I sent this weatherstripping to the painted to be put on my car. The first thing he asked is, "Did yo uget this from Doc Rebuild?" I said "No". He said, "Send it back, I won't even try to put it on the car. It will cost you more in labor that the difference in cost of the parts. His stuff is the best." This is still in the box and I may use it on the 71.
Then I ordered from Doc. He cancelled it, explaining to me that I need to heed his rules that he will only ship to the credit card address, not the body shop. I called him, and he said it was because of security reasons.
I waitted a few months, then tried again and had it shipped to my house. The painter was right. His stuff is amazing.
I wouldn't waste my time going to anyone else for weatherstripping. His other stuff is good too. I got door handles and a few other items that I knew I needed to get good quality parts for, rather than the cheap stuff.
