...so to GM, the corvette is just another Chevy. I can't wait to see the next Gen Camaro so that we'll know what the C8 will look like.

True, but to my eyes, I saw the progression to the dual round tail lights , from those early years.

Maybe I'm just a traditionalist whose unwilling to let go of the past.

But it fit the era. It had nothing else to derive from so GM had to start somewhere.

Sure. I suppose the transition from first to second gen. would have been smoother if a 61 or 62 had been included in the group of photos.

When the second gen. was being conceived somee of the inspiration did come from Ferrari - and it continues to this day.

Hmmmmm.........If the current Camaro represents a retro 69, the 70's Camaro had 4 Round tailights, chrome bumpers and a Vega front

Oh I agree totally, BUT I guess I'm not saying that every Chevy is looking like the Camaro. I'm saying that the Current Camaro has "set" the current design direction of Chevy.

If we wanted new, we would have beat it out of them.

It's all rather dramatic, no?

Know what else I've noticed...the new C7 has Camaro shaped tires. Who knows what other elements from the Camaro got borrowed to make the new C7. Buncha lazy GM bastard engineers.

zOMG! You're right! I so thought they were Lada Samara-shaped tires. Phew.

I agree completely with Dreamcars99 about the back looking like a robot face. For over a year, I thought the exact same!

It's Optimus Prime! Google Delux Class Movie Trilogy toys.

GM must still owe Hasbro for putting Sideswipe in the movie!
In return, we get the Transformers face emblazoned on the 'Vettes butt.

So here's a quick PS render of the rear. I removed the hard line indicated by the large black arrow in the lower image, as it does not appear in the CAD drawing. I'm hoping there is no crease here, rather a smooth transition. I also painted the "teardrops" and the rear spoiler to match the body. Also, the lowest portion near the exhaust pipes were blacked out to break up the expanse a bit.

Not sure if this matters much...just wanted to see what it would look like if that line was gone and I got creative with a can of spray paint.

Not sure about the spoiler or the blacked out valence but smoothing out the line as you did makes it much closer to reality.
