Have a 94 and just picked up a 96 motor. I know the 96 has the crank position sensor on it.What need to be done to adapt the 96 into the 94? Can I just change the timing to and earlier version to eliminate the CPS?

As far as I am aware you just plug all your 94 wiring in; your PCM is not looking for the crank sensor
so I would just leave it in place to block the hole instead of replacing the cover
IIRC You may have to reuse your '94 coil and ICM as there were some wiring changes there on late LT1's.

As vette OZ stated You can run the later OPTI but I believe you need to use some of your OBDI sensors like the knock sensors,
There's some wiring mods required to change to the late OPTI (did a vented OPTI conversion on a buddies 92 about 8 years ago so memory is a little fuzzy on details.) but it was nothing difficult.
Does anybody know if it is possible to post a pdf here? I have the 94-95/96 ecm and complete diagrams but in pdf format. Or just shoot me a p.m. with an E-Mail and I will send it to you. I considered doing a obd1 backdate years ago when I did my swap but stayed with the obd2.
96 stock and 86E I don't even know how to explain anymore.
