The only way they would be round is because the light bulbs are the 1176 bulbs.

Maybe, but I seriously doubt the taillights will have any incandescent bulbs. All LEDs behind those parallelograms is more likely.

Other than the headlights, my guess is everything will be LED. Lower power consumption, they last longer and they are lighter.

Incandescent is outlawed in europe as of this year - if my memory serves me well.

As such, either HID, halogene or LED if you want the europe certification.

Just stating from the top of my mind, I need to check it to confirm.

When I spoke with Doug Fehan he said, more or less, all new vehicles from this point on will have LED lighting simply because of safety/reliability. LEDs will last over the lifetime of a vehicle.

Makes sense. Incandescent bulbs go bad and you could be driving around for months not knowing your taillight is out, until someone tells you, since no one ever checks to see if their taillights are working themselves. LEDs last forever.

Except in those brake light bars that go below the tail gate on pick ups. They've always got a few out.

I've seen a few Caddys in front of me with burnt out LED's too.

That's what I thought initially (since that's what I've seen on Camaros), but now I'm starting to think that they may end up looking more like this, with a neon strip outlining the contours of the bezel (which I think may end up looking pretty slick for people like me who don't obsess over round taillights):

both the R8 and the 130 have pretty hot looking lights.

The law is initially motivated by the fact that LED are more efficient and was passed for household light bulbs initially.

I agree on the burnt out point to, some people are just brain dead on many things.
