I think that has been the argument the whole time. Why toss 50 yrs of heritage out the window in favor of a design basically copied from another car?

Nailed it.
There is no amount of fancy effects they execute on the Camaro taillights that they couldn't have done with Round Corvette taillights.

I have a photo of the C7 tail lights completely exposed! And yes, they are round.
