C7 - Chevy Branding
Rather than try and lead this discussion, I'll just throw out some uncommon stats that may be of interest...and see what you guys think about Chevy's marketing strategy, and how the C7 contributes.
The following stats are about global brand recognition across all industries. FYI - Coca Cola is number 1.
And here are the rankings for the auto makers in the Top 100.
Rank/Brand/% change in brand awareness from previous year
10 - Toyota +9
11 - Mercedes +10
12 - BMW +18
21 - Honda -11
39 - VW +18
45 - Ford +6
53 - Hyundai +24
55 - Audi +17
72 - Porsche +12
73 - Nissan +30
87 - Kia - New
99 - Ferrari +5
Thoughts?

My thought is that I don't see Chevy on that list at all.

Ford has been marketing small cars heavily in Europe for decades, and with some success. GM has only made a token effort and failed every time. I'm not sure why this is, but it's the reason Ford is on the list.

Probably because GM is not leading edge. GM is a follower, a copier.

I tend to think it is because they have always been pretty smug about being the biggest car manufacturer in America. I just don't think they ever felt like they needed to go after the world market because it is so different from their traditional market, would cost a lot of money, and....why would Number One need to do anything different? The future worldwide is in small, low cost, and fuel efficient cars. Ford has a massive head start on that market.
