Good progress Brent. I'am starting to see how mine will be put together. Are you going to re-install the rear bumper crash bar? When I pulled the body the bumper had to come off to get past the crash bar, but with the new bumper it might go! Just curious, why did you have to split the rear spoiler? Really nice wow lotta work.
I've never worked with fiberglass before. I do have a question-more of a concern really. I see the gloves, I see goggles-dont see a respirator
Do you not need one working with that stuff?

If you are grinding and sanding you should have a dust mask on. I just knew someone was gonna catch me w/o my mask on. Shame on me...

I see you use the decklid as a work bench too........ I have to watch myself on that to keep the heavier stuff off of there. It's just convenient I guess.

Gonna be a fine ride.... you have to be feeling pretty excited about getting all this together this trip.

When are you scheduled to go back?

Lol I dont wanna be the safety police haha
My neighbors think I'm a Hazmat worker-many times you'll see me with anyone or almost all of the following on:
Respirator, goggles, mesh faceshield,gloves, noise cancellation headset and a skullcap, Lol and thats when I'm not wearing my welding helmet.

We usually have masks on. Josh was touching up a piece, but I had a mask on most of the day yesterday. I was under the car grinding and no matter which way you blow the dust it comes back in your face. So, yes. You definitely want breathing protection when you are working the glass.
I am not sure when I am going back to Iowa. Depends on the weather and where we are as far as progress. It will be a few more days though for sure. Now back to sanding.

Brent I was looking through your recent posts and had some questions.

1. What is the purpose of the tape on the seams and how do you remove it?

2. Did you use bonding strips on the back side and if so did you fiberglass over the strips?

3. Why did you have to split the rear spoiler and will I have to do the same on my 76 without the rear flairs?

4. I plan on installing my bumper while the body is on my rotisserie, can you foresee any problems I may run into?

5. Are you planning on re-installing the rear crash bar?

I am back in Iowa. I had a few more pictures to post but left my computer charger in SD.
We did not get as much done as I had hoped, but that is normal. Everything takes longer then you think it will. We spent a lot of time on the back and decided to piece together stuff to make a unique back end. That is why the spoiler part of the deck is split. I really like the way it turned out.
I am hoping that next time around we can get the front fenders on as well as the front end.

Hey Brent,
I really like the way the rear bumper is looking. It might just be the angle but it doesn't look near as long in the rear as my 76. I would really want to take about 4 inches off the back of mine when I replace my wavy rear bumper. I would like to do something like the C3R Concept car. Keep up the great work. I've enjoyed reading about your 76. It is going to be super nice and I can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks, guys. I am not sure if it is shorter or if it just more stout with the flares. Either way I like it. I have a few more photos and will upload them when I get my computer to fire up.
