use the frame behind the front wheels and forward of the rear wheels or in the front the (K) member frame cross over the suspensions mated too, read the link

The homemade car ramps shown in Grumpy's link above is a great idea for any C4 owner.
I use car ramps to make it easier to use a floor jack to lift my 87 C4 up high for support with good jackstands.

You can even use a good set of ramps to back your C4 onto if your carefull. I have done it a few times this way too.
You don't catch that low hanging front air dam at all & rip it off the car.

i know bout jack stands and such. but am talking about changing a flat on the road.
those little lips where it says jack points??
about 1/8 inch then a space and another 1/8 lip. car jacks up on these points??

Yup, between the 2 arrows. The jack provided with the car had a groove and that fit into the lip. You want to be sure you are catching the actual frame and not just the plastic running board.

Grumpy,

Great link, I'm definitely going for the 12 toners.

One more question though: Can you point out exactly where on the front cross member that I should place the saddle of my floor jack? I started jacking up the car there yesterday in what appeared to me to be the middle of it, but the metal looke kind of thin and it also appeared that there is a hole in the metal there. It's hard for me to see what's going on down there, so I chickened out - I didn't want to be jacking up on the wrong place and end up bending something. Perhaps you could show a picture of the underside of the car and circle exactly where the jack saddle should go. BTW, my car is a '96 if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Thanks for circling those cross member locations - that's exactly what I needed!

Guess it's off to home depot this weekend to get the plywood to put in between the jack saddle and the cross member.
