Headlight header bar install
Hey guys I needs some help, my son and I are in the process of restoring a 79 corvette and need some information. Can someone tell me what is the best stuctual adhesive to bond the headlight header bar to the surround? What is the best brand of seam sealer? Thanks in advance for any information.

79 factory fiberglass is SMC. You will be okay with any SMC compatible bonding product and filler.

Never used it but from what I've read here Lord Fusor(sp) seems to be a good product.
Others with more experience will chime in shortly...

I used 3M brand when I did mine. SEM, 3M, Valvoline, and others make the bonding agent. Just get a name brand and you'll be fine.

I used the Lord Fusor 116 on my 77, you can just use a normal application gun with this 2 part mix . The sales guy did say to run out a fair bit before you apply it as he has had some guys complaining the first lot out the tube/mixer didnt stick properly . It should come with at least two mixing nozzles as well.
As mentioned use clamps and I used coarse sandpaper to scratch up the surfaces on the new bar i installed.
Just one other thing that might be of interest was the quality of the new bar , i wasnt happy with the way the fixed nuts were attached so i added a bit of weld to each before i stuck it on.

i traced around where the old one was then just lined it up and clamped it ,you can see where it oozed out but its nowhere near as rough as the original job . left it for about two days if i remember rightly .

Let us know what you do. Do a search for header bar in the search box or in my profile(72SBVet) as I did a write up when I did this. Good luck
