My next mod to help with my 05's body flex, top squeaks, rattles, and bring my suspension up a few notches will be a tunnel plate. Member (abn373) had a good write up on the tunnel plate in this post http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...t=tunnel+plate

For everyone who has rattles with a C6, fix the rattles for a few bucks with E-clips. I can't find the thread, perhaps someone else can locate it.

I am about to trade my 07 vette in for a 2010 Z06.
Any quirks about the car I should look out for?

My Z has 48K...just changing brakes now.
I don't drive hard,so I've had zero issues.Corvette Techs I've spoken with say the only issues they've encountered are with over revving, missed shifts at redline, etc.

Mine has been flawless....excellent power,SUPER mpg.

Only issue since new clutch master cylinder(twice)...both covered by warranty and the roof panel was upgraded(warranty)
I didn't have to change tires until 41K.

Congrats on your new purchase... I am sure you will enjoy it immensely, I sure enjoy mine. I may replace it with a C7 Z whenever it comes out...

What I have gathered is to buy an 08 to new Z. Was it only the 06 and 07 model years that were affected by the dropped valves?

I'm sure this has all been discussed numerous times, but I couldn't find any old posts addressing this...

I have been debating over whether to get a GS, or a Z06. I love the wide body look. I've pretty much decided on the Z06.

I can see myself enjoying the targa top on occasion, but if it squeaks or rattles, or has lots of wind buffeting or ?? I probably would tire of it, especially with the effort it takes to take it off and on.

I had an '03 z06 that I loved, and I have yet to drive a C6 Z06. I actually liked the C5 for all it's hot rod noise and commotion! It was an exhilarating ride! Some complain about noise, or rough ride, etc., but I loved it. Very reminiscent of my Chevy hot rods of the 60's..

Question 1: How is the C6 Z06 by comparison? More refined? Quieter than the C5 Z? Your impressions..

Question 2: What year did GM upgrade the valves? I know that there were issues with the '06 Z.

Question 3: Is the GS targa top problematic, in any ways? Buffeting, noise, or ?? I'd hate to give up those extra 75 ponies for a targa top that rattles, or that I grow tired of and never use. My wife has a BMW vert, and I enjoy the top-down experience on occasion, but not if the targa is not as pleasant.

Thanks to all in advance for your input.
Ill try. When its hot outside the inside of my black z06 is a oven. Where you live a vert sounds great .Valves are said to be limited to 09-10 up to 2/11 i played it safe my heads were replaced last april.(Vette Tube. 2008 z06 Modified)
