In the last video, Welburn had no clue:
1. He had no idea how much HP the 1953 Corvette had (150hp...he said 135-140)
2. He genuinely had no idea how many 1953 Corvettes were produced. (300 were made, he said "maybe 1000")
3. Jay asked him if the 53 only came with an Auto trans, he had no clue (Yes it only came with a auto)
He has no excuse for not knowing these things. He should be an expert on Corvette history, especially if he is going to do all of this PR stuff. It's embarrassing to be honest.
Jay, I can excuse his lack of knowledge.

When he brought up the 6-speed, Jay was referring to his C6 ZR1 and the great mileage it gets for such a high-performance car. He never said the C7 has a 6-speed... they failed to mention it has a 7-speed, but they also never said it has a 6-speed.

Yep Jay says "obviously a 6 sp", and Welburn doesn't say anything to correct him they just go on to the interior. Of course a designer probably doesn't know the mechanics of it. He just likes talking about the lines. But I agree if you are going on a PR tour get the facts straight.

Either that, or he just didn't catch it. I watched the video three times, and I completely missed it. In fact, on the third time, I was specifically looking to see if Leno referred to it as a six speed, and I still didn't notice. It wasn't until blckslvr79 pointed out the exact time in the video that I noticed it. I guess I was too distracted ogling the car .

GM has provided Leno with a LOT of support on several of his pet projects. They see him as a resource and I'm sure he sees a limited obligation. Clearly he knew more about vette history than Welburn. He's a car guy and even a vette fan, but is so involved in his show and his hobby that he is not as focused on the C7 Corvette as we are here. His ZR1 gets a disproportionately high number of miles on it versus the rest of his collection.
Like Jay, don't like Jay, he has saved a lot of cool cars and done a lot for automobile history. He would probably be the first to say this doesn't make him the God of sports cars, but he can certainly voice more first hand experience with more of them than many of us.

In the video Jay asked if the car had the same wheelbase and Welburn confirmed. My memory may be failing me, but I thought they extended the wheelbase slightly?
Edit: "The lighter engine is nestled into a Corvette platform featuring a longer wheelbase and, as a result, the C7 Corvette has a "near perfect" 50/50 weight balance front and rear." - Quoting R&T

Yes, the wheel base is an inch longer than the C6.
