Take the guns from the people and the only people with guns are criminals. Another death laid at the feet of gun control advocates.

CHICAGO (CBS) – A teenage girl–an honor student who had just performed at President Obama’s inaugural–was gunned down Tuesday afternoon in the Kenwood neighborhood, just blocks from the high school she attended.

CBS 2’s Mike Parker reports the victim, 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, was taking shelter from the rain with a group of 10 to 12 teenagers under a canopy in Vivian Gordon Harsh Park on the 4500 block of South Oakenwald Avenue around 2:30 p.m., when someone jumped a fence, ran up to them, and opened fire.

Just days before, Hadiya performed with her high school band at President Obama’s inauguration.

Chicago murders more than double Afghan death toll

The death toll by murder in Chicago over the past decade is greater than the number of American forces who have died in Afghanistan since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, according to a police analysis.

Between 2003 and 2011, 4,265 people were murdered in the city of Chicago. In 2012 alone, 512 people were murdered in the city.

Operation Enduring Freedom, the name for the war in Afghanistan, which started Oct. 7, 2001, has seen a total of 2,166 killed. The war has been ongoing for 11 years, 3 months and one week.

Operation Iraqi Freedom, the name for the war in Iraq, which started March 20, 2003, and ended Dec. 15, 2011, saw a total of 4,422 killed.

In a city with some of the toughest gun control laws in America, where a handgun cannot be purchased, Fox News reported that Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy “acknowledged aiming at assault weapons misses the mark when dealing with Chicago’s gang violence.”

when only the CRIMINALS ARE ARMED you get constant violence
, think about this, how many of these CRIMINALS would have been either shot or convinced crime was far more dangerous if many of the victims could have or did resist and were armed.
Every time I see someone say (X) number of gun deaths were reported, in a given area, or time span, I have to ask ,
how many of those were criminals shot during commission of violent crimes?
how many truly deserved to BE SHOT for their aggressive criminal actions and how many were innocent victims
HOW MANY WERE DRUG RELATED, and how many were committed by the same few criminals
HOW many victims were shot by REPEAT OFFENDERS LET OUT OF JAIL.
