balancer wobble

Is there "range" for a little wobble in the balancer?

I just went through this. I had to change mine. There is no wobble with the new one. It is going to get worse. I also went with an aftermarket one. The replacement one from the dealer might do the same thing. Good luck.

I just went through this with my 2005. Here's a good choice that is better than the OEM part.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...2-2006-c6.html

There is too much risk to not replace it quickly. Here's the TSB# that explains the repair. 05-06-01-001A.

My repair cost $300 for parts and $700 labor at my Chevy dealer. The repair requires 3 special tools that most shops don't have access to.

Hope this helps!

I just had this issue pointed out to me during a recent smog check. This is such bullshit, my 07 only has 32k miles and to now have to incur such a huge expense really pisses me off. We should file a class action law suit against GM for making such a piece of shit!

That is very unusual at that mileage, but the good news is that it should be covered under warranty. You will be without your car for 2 days though. I have 144K miles on mine so I wasn't too upset. Even though my SN was within the TSB range they wouldn't give me any discount because of my high mileage. I am very pleased with my ownership experience over 9 years. The only other large expense item was the remote control unit and it was complicated by a less than capable local dealership. Sure hope they cover it under maintenance for you.

I think I am out of warranty. My car is 6 years old today.

Sorry, I missed that. However my dealer was willing to listen to a plea for a discount until I told him my mileage. It can't hurt to ask.

Installed a powerbond balancer. My tech here at work did it for me. My Gawd!!! you have to practically drop the whole front, cradle , control arms and let it hang by back 2 bolts. He had it done in about 2.5 hours. Scary looking with all that hanging down.!!
