Hi,
Quick response, off the cuff so to speak.
You will need a flat screw driver and a torx screw driver, you don't need to remove the MAF cable if you are an accurate working person. If you are a bozo, remove the MAF cable before proceeeding.
Open the engine hood of the car and detach air intake from the sockets.
There are three sockets/studs holding the air intake in place, as you can see on the photo hereafter:
The 3 sockets are the little studs on top of the plastic radiator protection. There is one on the left (driver side) and two on the right (passenger side). Of these sockets, only two are retaining the air intake, the third retains the chamber that is attached to the air intake.
When you detach from the 3 sockets, don't raise the air intake too much as to not damage the MAF cable.
It will probably make things easier for you to loosen the strap that holds the air intake to the flexible hose (use the flat screw driver).
Once you have removed the air intake from the 3 sockets, you can detach the flexible hose from the intake itself as shown hereafter:
As for myself, I don't bother removing the MAF cable.
Once this is done, you will have access to the air filter itself as show hereafter (air filter is the blue thing located within the air intake):
The air filter is kept in place by the black plastic grill. In order to remove the grill, you need to remove the torx screws that are holding it.
Do be careful, the black plastic grill is very fragile, it breaks very easily.
Once that is done, all you need to do is remove the filter by pulling it straight out.
There are little pulling straps, black, on the side of the air filter to aid in the removal process. The straps are located at the far end of the filter, right next to the two torx screws, that is to say at the end of the largest section of the air filter.
When you put the grill back on, after replacing the air filter, pay attention and make sure the removal straps are not stuck under the grill.
The grill has little holes in it to let the straps go through.
Hope this helps,
Cedric
Will try to find some time to put it in the DIY section with better pictures.
