Because it's lame BS like this that screws up the court system. Let's say its $300 worth of paint damage to the car. Hire an attorney...in the end it'll cost thousands, you (the royal you, not YOU you) MIGHT get the recovery you want AND the result will be 3 years down the road. Of course, this supposes that the waitress would even have the means to pay a judgment. All because you were a cheap SOB and left pocket change as a tip.

I just went through this. It cost me $65K and three years to defend a $200K lawsuit. It was a bullshit suit. My only solace is that the suing party ended up losing everything, including their house, because of legal fees.

The only ones that made out were the lawyers...
