Have you seen this video where they focus on Michelin tires?

Chevrolet and Michelin says the C7 is capable of the same track times as the C6 Grand Sport, and does it with narrower and lighter tires.

Hmmm, those don't sound close to C6Z numbers as first implied?

It says that it can achieve them which it can, doesn't say anything about not exceeding them.

When they said competitive with the C6 Z06 we all must remember that the base C6 Z with the good year tires pulls a bit over 1.0G on the skid pad and the Grand Sport with the same tires pulls a little under the C6 Z I have seen 1.03Gs for the Grand Sport and I believe 1.05Gs with the same good years on the C6 Z. This suggest that the Z51 C7 will do about 1.00-1.05Gs on a skid pad which is a very solid performance.

I would think most (really 'all') people bought a GS because the wider tires and body looked cool, not for skid pad numbers. So this might be a step backward (narrow tires) for them.

In a vacuum yes this would be a step in the wrong direction, though the C7 looks much cooler in base form then the Grand Sport.

GM still has to sell C6s for 6 or 8 more months, they don't want to kill sales by stating the C7 is much better...at least not yet.
