C6 Z06 or C7 Z51
Finally!! in a position to purchase a Z06 after 8 years of waiting, and now I'm trying to figure out if it would be better to just wait and get the C7 Z51-
It'll be my daily driver, and I do intend to take it to the track at some point. I'll be looking at an 08-09 Z06, but if the C7 Z51 bests it's performance.. then should I just wait? What are your thoughts on it?

I would think the Z06 would be cheaper and faster but used. The C7 will be new and almost as fast. All comes down to what do you want? A C6 or C7. Tough choice for sure but I doubt you would regret either purchase. IMHO

c7 z51/ c8 zo6
Its funny I was thinking the samething. I currently have a 08 z51 and was thinking of buying the z06 07 but after seeing the c7 i will wait.... to be honest with aftermarket add-ons I would think you could be pretty close to a zo6 ......plus you have a new great look.

One thing to note about the track. The moment you drive onto one, you have no car insurance. It is the reason I have never tracked my car.
Tough call between a car not for sale yet and an outgoing model.

Yes - 427, completely agree with that comment. I love the 427, I'm a little obsessed with it. I used to get a meal at Subway all the time that rang up to 4.27 just for that reason. Every time I hear the number 427, I can't help but start day dreaming...
I'm heavily leaning towards the C6 Z06, just cause i'd be able to pick one up around April and I'd have to wait quite a while just to pick up a Z51 C7. However, the F55 and the new interior is quite nice.
For those that have been able to experience it in the Z06, how big of a difference does the F55 option make for daily driving? Obviously I am not going to be racing this thing every day, just the weekend drag strip a few times a year - does the F55 really add much for daily driving?

You can supposedly get non-competitive "track" insurance with a few companies but you will pay dearly for it.

As a track car the C6Z06 is better. The new C7 looks to be more of a GT cruiser. If its a daily driver, i would expect the new C7 to be a nicer driver... I still don't like the looks but i suspect the driving dynamic for daily driving is better.
But $ for $ the old Z06 is WAY better... and more aftermarket parts available CHEAPER than would be for the C7.

You'll get more looks and impress the avg Joe/Jane more with the C7 Z51 because its so new. And you'll get a brand new car with a full warranty. But if you want the best performance/dollar the C6 Z06 is the way to go. Its a tough choice and really comes down to how well you like the C7. I DON'T have the means so my preference is a C6 Z51, lol. And i'm working hard to make that happen, but with a mortgage, yada yada...

It's a NO-BRAINER. Do you want the best of 2005 technology, or the best of 2013 technology? The new car is superior in almost every way: better suspension, better handling, better balance, and, in all probability, little or no loss in power. GM is quoting "at least 450 hp" because the actual rating is unknown. Based on performance, it's likely going to clock in at 480 hp or more.
The old Z06 is a great car, but the C7 is a greater car. Unless cost is an overriding issue - go for the new one!

I believe the new C7 will be much better but how much better truly remains to be seen. Wait for the Car rags to test them all out before proclaiming vast superiority. The C7 is heavier and has 14 more hp. So if you track the car the Z06 will be very formidable ( depends on the driver at that point ) If you want to live with the car, the C7 will be more liveable but that too remains to be seen... wait for the road tests and comparos before leaping...

Much depends on how you drive as well. I drove a C6 coupe this past summer for a few days and I felt like I was steering a 79 Cadillac. This was only because I had been driving my Z06 all Summer. For me, feeling the bumps in the road, and knowing that I can out-corner every other car on the road, is what I live for.
They say my Z has 505 HP, but I don't know if I've ever used all of it. The real magic of the car, for me, is in the handling.
Perhaps the C7 will meet or beat that handling, but until I hear it from someone who owned, and beat the crap out of, a C6 Z06, I won't believe it.
