Maybe a little better. Not drastically, but a bit.

Extreme taxation, excessive controls, oppressive government competition with business, frustrated minorities and forgotten Americans are not the products of free enterprise. They are the residue of centralized bureaucracy, of government by a self-anointed elite. - Ronald Reagan

They keep running the "next in line" that has supposedly put in their time. Screw that! Where did Obama come from? Where did Clinton come from? Both were young guys fairly new in the political world (Less than 10 years). The Pubs need to find some younger blood with new ideas. THAT is why they keep losing. Until they stop running old geeky squares, they won't win didly.

The Pubs need to be energized. The Pubs need younger blood. The Pubs need strategy.
Well, you've pretty much described Rubio...but he's working on the 'bi-partisan' immigration bill with Schumer. Watch what happens... Everything Rubio tries to do with the bill will be met with all kinds of accusations and roadblocks until it's pretty much a dem bill that gets put forth. Then when Rubio is put in the running for candidate, the bs will come out of the closet to make him look like a Cuban Hitler.

Like Newb said, the pubs are done. All they have left, according to the resident pubs on this board is to compromise...where do you think another 4 years of compromising will find the party...they will be absorbed by the progressives, just like the dems were, starting with Johnson. Win another election? The pubs will NEVER win another national election.

Like you said, when the pain becomes personally great enough, they'll look for change. It may take 100 years. That's how long it took Theodore and Wilson.
Find a way to eliminate Welfare checks forever very soon.
Stand a much better chance of turning the USA around in the Right Direction.

It still requires the same forward thinking. There is no immediate solution.

Look...waa..waaaa....it took 100 years for "progressives" to ruin everything. Gotcha. You think that you're gonna untangle that mess with one sweeping candidate? NO. You've gotta take baby steps to get back to where you wanna be and that means FIRST getting a candidate elected that is slightly right (meaning that he will have to appeal to moderates)...establish that as the new "normal" that people like....the take another step right...and again...and again.

Just like you guys bitch an complain that one gun law restriction will eventually lead to another. The Republicans need to do that same thing....but essentially in reverse.

Any other thinking and planning is just going to lost on the wind. But good luck if an "all or nothing" strategy is how you want to approach it.

The problem is with the social conservatives. they are the ones who won't compromise. They want to reverse Roe V wade. They want to put gays to death. they want to stop teaching evolution as science. These are the things that scare the living shit out of thinking people. These are the things that are hurting the republican party. Well that is pure BULLSHIT. The people understand the need for good fiscal policy. But they are afraid of the baggage that comes with it. Until the fiscal conservatives stop letting the social conservatives ride their coat-tails the pub party is on a losing streak.
Yep.

I wil freely admit I lean a bit left of center from most of you guys, but what you say above is true. As one who paid 68K into the system this year, I would like the obscene spending to cease - from both sides of the aisle.

Given the chance, I truly believe a fiscal conservative, without the social conservative baggage, would be a viable candidate for most of the voters in the country.
