Unhappy WHEEL Availability ISSUES on CORVETTE!

from GM;

To: All Corvette Dealers
Date: December 15, 2005

Subject: Corvette Production Disruptions

Coupe & Convertible Production

The wheel supply for Corvette has experienced significant disruption. Unfortunately, this situation has caused GM to make several adjustments affecting wheel options, production volumes and production schedules. Many orders may need to have wheel selections changed based on wheel availability.

Since timing is critical, and current wheel supply is uncertain, Order Fulfillment / Distribution is unable to follow the normal process of returning orders to dealers for necessary changes. Regrettably, polished wheels will not be available from our new supplier.

This will force us to change all orders scheduled to be built after 1/3/06 to Silver Painted wheels. The much anticipated Chrome wheel option will be postponed until late spring production. Any substitution of a lower cost wheel will be reflected in a reduced MSRP and invoice. Additionally, overall wheel availability may delay production dates of "In System" orders.

Z06 Production
The impact to Z06 production is still undetermined as is the future availability of the polished wheel option. Some orders may need to have wheel selections changed based on wheel availability. As is the case with Coupe & Convertible, wheel availability may delay production dates of "In System" orders.

Dealers will be advised of their future Z06 allocation outlook as soon as production schedules can be solidified.
(REFER TO THIS LINK FOR THE LATEST ON THAT SUBJECT
http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...threadid=48292 )

Summary
As orders are changed, Order Fulfillment will notify affected dealers via GM Messenger. Order Guides, GM AutoBook and Order Workbench will be changed as soon as practical to reflect the change in wheel options.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointments this situation may cause you and your customer(s).

<end>

Can I send my own custom wheels to GM to be placed on the car and they can keep their wheels?

I'm really disappointed in GM. First off, other than the Corvette, I'm not a GM fan at all. My family buys Fords (not that Ford is really doing any better right now). I'm just sick of hearing how GM can't get it together and give the market the products they say they are going to give. I was dead set on the high polished wheels but I guess that isn't going to happen anymore. They are just crushing my whole first Corvette buying experience. Sorry for the rant.

NAVY WRESTLING

I just got back from Iraq. One time I was in combat for 40 hours straight, shooting at people who were trying to kill me. And it was nothing compared to one division I college wrestling practice, let alone a whole season- CAPT Zembiec after getting back from 7 months in al Nasirreah, Iraq

RIP

Does this also mean Competition Grey wheels are out? Very clear in saying that chromes and polished are out, but nothing on the greys. At least it is the supply of something that can readily be changed, but still is a pain for anyone who ordered something they won't be getting now.

Wheels

Just received my C-6 Z-06 three weeks ago.Had painted wheels,I purchased polished at the dealership.(It took two weeks to get them from G.M.) Note:after market wheels are heavier than G.M. an aren't as strong.This purchase was above what I paid for the car.

I find it interesting that these wheels are available all over the aftermarket, yet GM is having a hard time getting them. Maybe the manufacturers can make more $$ by selling to the aftermarket than to GM.

What ever the reason - it's really a shame that people expecting to pick up their new vettes are being disappointed.
