BP Disses TX - Hardcore!

After all of that 'we support free enterprise' and praising companies knowing they always do the right thing. After all that support TX gave BP over the spill...

And BP slaps them in the face!

That's gotta sting. That's like being told by mommy that she never loved you or that every penny you gave your GF went to her and her other boyfriend's lifestyle and not her bills.

Snippet:

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Oil giant BP Plc rejected a request from Texas for a $25 million cash advance to clean up shorelines sullied by the Gulf oil spill, and got a scathing response from top Texas officials, according to letters given to Reuters on Thursday.

BP denied a July 5 request from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott for a $25 million "block grant," similar to cash advances for clean up that BP gave to all other Gulf Coast states, the letter from BP to Abbott showed.

----

Gotta love that!

Probably because there isn't any oil floating around in Texas waters.

The few tar balls that washed up in Galveston weren't even from the BP spill.

The original poster should have posted both arguments here: BP's response:

While BP will not grant the cash advance, it promised to pay Texas for clean-up costs as they arise, and pledged $5 million for the Texas Coastal Protection Fund, which is meant for oil spill responses.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100729/...exas_rejection

I think Texas over requested here, there is no indication their clean up costs will require $25 million. BP has pledged to pay clean up costs as they arise. Now if you'd like to argue that BP should be good neighbors and pony up the money as a goodwill gesture that's another story.

Texas must be an Obama state. Every one else got money why shouldn't They...

I think Kansas should get part of the pie also. All those tourists that go to the coast just stopped in Kansas and polluted the state...

From the same article I posted before:

BP has received more than 100,000 oil spill claims so far. According to Perry's letter to BP, more than 4,400 are from Texas, and BP has paid out more than $5 million to Texas claimants.

Hardly seems like the hardcore stinging diss that was outlined for us by the original poster.

Especially considering our oil wasn't from the BP spill... I am at the coast alot, nothing unusual to see tar balls, mini-slicks from time to time. I don't blame Tex for asking, and I don't blame BP for saying no..

If it ain't a C-4 it's a parts car.

Technically, something that is "behind your back" is really right in front of you.

The diss is that BP prepayed all other Gulf states but TX. Even FL got prepay money and the spill didn't really reach there, either.

Why the change?

I understand that TX and FL might not need the up front $$ because of the apparent lack of damages, but with FL getting money...

I dunno. BP seems quick to repay, so I don't see why TX is so pissed, but I do find it amusing.

Because the "experts" say it's going to go east... and the way it's looking now, not much of it will ever end up on shore, anywhere. BP used the latest info, Tx made the request before the leak was stopped. No real reason to be pissed..

That's because the logic is missing from the usual suspects ... Tx is pissed because they're only getting $5 Million not the $25 Million ... not a hard concept to grapple with ...
