I've got my CRS ones installed and there is no flex at all in them, and that is at 16 gauge. 14 gauge would be even stiffer. Timberwolf, it looks like you have more interest again, lol.
I'd prefer pre-pay if you guys trust me. It's easy enough to hit the refund button and neither of us are out anything. But my concern is if I order these from the laser shop because there's names on the list and I ask people to pay there's often a percentage of folks who don't end up following through.
This would probably go much faster if that 'other' forum wasn't so Gestapo about member created mods being advertised.
Sorry, I should have clarified. You said the price was X if there was at least 20. Wasn't sure if you wanted to get a final count before a final price. Because if less than 20 sign up, then you have to get squared up from everyone also.
TW, I'll have to catch ya tomorrow, there was an "error" in my last pay check so I wasn't paid 2/3 or my pay... Damn lazy no good government workers
Well, my hope is to not end up with pricing that makes these unreasonable. I don't want to give folks a price then come back and raise it. honestly, I'll be covering brackets that aren't presold myself in order to keep the cost low and in hopes that people will continue to pick them up as word spreads like they did last time.
I got my regular brackets last week and scored a set of working motors from a 97 for $22 for the pair from a salvage yard. Hopefully I will have some more free time to get this done on my car.
Sorry did not mean to turn this Great Thread into a Rant lol.
But I remember them saying oh nothing will change. THEN people were getting banned just for bringing up a product that was not made by some Supporting Vendor Whether it was Better or Cheaper or not . Or as in this case would come up with something FANTASTIC idea to help others and some supposedly Supporting Vendor would Cry and the powers that be would slap you and remove it. But they will never tell you which if any Vendor.
Sorry Again Rant off it just gets under my Craw.
You know if I Knew more or had the time and probably the Funds maybe an NCRS ( Not Correctly Restored ) Forum would generate allot of Interest?
There's a place here that claims to have 15 probe motors (at least) in stock. I thought about buying out what they had so I could help folks out with them, but my better half says I have been spending too much on this stuff
I just sent you $30 for a set. It's for a good cause and it'll keep costs down for everyone. Besides, having spare parts in the garage is always a good thing when so many of my friends have C3s that may need this same modification down the road.
Welp for what its worth guys my homemade brackets are in and working great. I found that a quick and simple way of powering the up and down motion of the buckets is tapping into 1 of the 12v side marker lamp wires. Nothing gets touched under the dash and the flashers have no effect on them. Yes...if you turn on ONLY the parking lights, the buckets will open, with the headlights still off. That dont bother me none, as I never drive with only the pkg lights on. Just a thought.
I went ahead and placed the order with the laser shop this morning. 10 sets sold, I had 40 sets made in case others decide they want in after the fact (like last time)
Gimme a week and I should have something to show you guys
If you look earlier in the post there is a great diagram by Richard454 that shows the wiring. Of the wires coming from the motor (before the connector), red/white stripe is power, black is ground, red and yellow wires are the trigger wires.
Wow, thanks for the full schematics link. Very generous.
Bill
