Project R - 68 Firebird with Church Group

Wanted to introduce our next project. This one is different from anything I've tackled before. This is a total not-for profit group project through our Church group. Nikki and I are project leads to see this thing through. Shaved my head yesterday (for the first time in my life) upon the kick-off of the build at the end of tear down day. The group had a blast. It was like something from Overhaulin on TV.

I won't cut my hair again until this project has reached a substantial mile post. The funds and resources to build the car are totally independent of the church. So...there is a lot of leg work to do - but it will be worth it. Some lucky dude is going to eventually get this car too....for free. How cool is that?

I put a temporary web page here until the official one is set up.

Thanks to Carter Hickman designs for this killer computer generated rendering. This makes it so much easier to see where we are going.

I love them old Firebirds. I would prefer one of those to a same year Camaro. I don't know why they never caught on like the Camaros. Looks like it's going to need rear quarters, what's the budget and time line for it?

Actually the car will need inner/outer wheel houses and quarters. The floor pan and trunk is gone, but the firewall, cowl, and rockers are strong.

We don't have a donor site set up yet. Now that the car is torn down we can begin to sort out what we have and what we need. I have a guy over the interior, sheet metal, and power train. We will meet soon to discuss the needs, then determine how to proceed.

We will be selling the parts we don't need, accepting donations of parts from others, and may even set up an ebay/paypal account to auction off parts we have and or donated to build funds.

If anybody has a good set of C5 front calipers, baskets, and rotors - let us know. We can convert those to fit the front of this Firebird - also a C5 master cylinder and booster would work.

Cool. I know somebody here has to have done a big brake swap on a C5 and has the old calipers and baskets laying around too.

One of our members just put together this video using Jeremy Camp's "Take My Life" as the theme music.

Jeff- Yes, we'd be interested in the rotors.
