2008 Z06 vs 2008 Viper SRT **Video**
Little Info- Test was done at willow springs, did a run around the track to see which was the fastest, but it was a joke as you can clearly see these guys are drifiting like crazy! Quarter mile times are what both these cars can do in their previous year model and even better!
Enjoy

The driver of the cars is a professional drifter. He used to drive a viper now drives a charger. Of course he is going to know how to drive the viper.
Did you hear him towards the end.... "nobody told me chevy made good cars... I've been with dodge for 7 years"
still a cool video!

yeah didn't really have much to say or wasn't all that xcited to b in the vette! i now believe others when they say reviews are either bias or they have people that are better drivers for one car and not both!

I question this video. I think it was rigged. In a drift fest the Viper wins but on RR tracks I run the Z06 turns better lap times and higher straight speeds than the new Viper.

that guy was probably goofing off or it wasn't really a test! look at the QTR mile times. Either way the vette is still within less of a second!

How typical huh? The Mopar guys standing on the sidelines, the Mopar guy driving. And the weak ass 1320 time for the Vette. I guess that's the only way Mopar guys know how to beat a cheaper car that has less ponies.

Slow times for both cars. Quarter mile on a front straight = fail. Get them on a prepped track plz.

Vette
hell, just have both like me. Both great cars. My 08 Z is my daily driver, its filthy, the viper never comes out dirty. If times ever get tough I would sell both and get the new viper and drive a pos daily driver. I love my Z, but if I was forced to ...it would leave the family.Every time I take it out I come back with a big smile, its clean in the garage and the ZO6 sits in the rain.I have owned 11 vettes now, forget speed etc. nothing is like a Viper!! my .02

What could you possibly like about your 03 Viper Vs, your 08 Z06, except the color
I DROVE AN 06 VIPER EXTENSIVLY (pics in my gallery), even the owner of the Viper agreed that the Z was far superior in every regard

Its hard to sit here and say that either the Vette is better or the Viper is better..........
The Viper has its pros, it has a massive 8.4L V-10 now with 600BHP and 560ft-lbs of torque thanks partly to the reworked heads but a large part of the gains were made possible by its VVT system. As it gained in both Horsepower and torque it also gained in MPG and runs cleaner then the 8.3L motor. The paint on the Viper IMO really helps to make it stand out and the new hood is also a big improvement over the past one. I was a big fan of the Gen II GTS Viper however when the Gen III SRT-10 came out it really didn't catch my eye like the last one did. The exhaust note also reminded me of a diesel pick up truck and not a sports car..........
The also improved for 2008 Corvette Z06 IMO is a vehicle that is more purpose built for Speed (the Viper IMHO comes off as being more of just throwing a bigger engine in it). Even though the Z06 is down a good deal on horsepower and torque it uses its horsepower and torque more efficiently in the pursuit of speed that it makes up for almost all of it and comes very close to the performance of the 2008 Viper and for a lower price tag.
Whats in store for the Corvette for the future? Gen V SBCs which will use both VVT and direct injection. The 3.6L V-6 in the 2008 CTS uses a 11.3:1 CR however it still worked with 87 octane fuel, a Gen V LS7 can have a CR of 11.5:1 and VVT can really help push horsepower and torque up however I dont think that they would want it to get too close to the ZR1.

Hotzo6
All I was saying is that I love both cars but the Corvette is my daily driver, the Viper is my toy.The Viper looks better IMO sounds better and I like it better. The new Viper is just plain awesome. The ZO6 is the best car for a daily driver, lots of room, comfy, looks mean and good economy on the highway. The best of both worlds.
