new mast sticks up
thanks, was pretty easy but the new mast sticks up 1/4"
I turned the radio on/off about 30 times and it still sticks up. It is the same as the old one. Thinking of cutting a piece off the plastic cable. Any ideas?

I don't have a power antenna so I'm unaware of what your exact problem is. Is it that the antenna does not recess all the way down? Does it work properly as far as reception goes? If it works fine but does not go all the way down, you may have the wrong part especially if the previous one does the same thing and the part numbers are the same.

Reception is good, it just doesn't recess all the way down like the old one used to.

The old one was completely stuck in the down postition and wouldnt move. The new mast moves up and down fine.

Are you sure you bought the correct GM part? The antenna goes down into a receptacle so there's not anything that can get in it's way. Either it's defective or you have the wrong part.

I got it! As soon as the antenna was about to make its way down, I gave it a sharp push down from the tip and the base. It clicked a couple times and retracted all the way down into the recepticle. Tested it to make sure and it was perfect.
Thanks for the input and advice JMan
