02 Z06 P0442 code

i'm sorry if i'm posting this on the wrong section but i recently purchased a 02 Z06 and it was fun until 5 days ago the dumb check engine light came on, i ran the scanner on it and the code was p0442 (small leak) i replaced the gas cap thinking that was it but no the check engine light came on again a couple of hours later, it's gettin really annoying, and hints or tips will be appreciated thanks

code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

* A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
* A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
* A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
* Other small leak in EVAP system
* Faulty vent o-ring seal

Possible Solutions

With a P0442, the most common repair is to:

* Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
* Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
* Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

The gas cap has to be turned several "clicks" past closed position.

Your not saying if the DTC is in a current or history state and problem could have been solved with a "valid C5 gas cap" but error has not yet aged out.

You could delete the code and see if DTC comes back.

Since you just bought the Z06 you do not know what last owner did as is the evap function even hooked up or even been taken out.

Starting with left side of throttlebody there is a flex hose which then goes to a solenoid by valve cover. Is the wiring harness plugged into it ?

Then the hose has a purge valve that looks like a valve stem on wheel, canister might be plugged up and by using low air pressure to that valve could purge system.

Check hose to see it is firmly connected to TB and both sides of solenoid
