changing engine coolant on a C5

I'm new to corvette maintenance. Is there a stopcock that can be opened to drain the coolant out of the engine block? Failing this, I was planning to just drain the radiator, which may get about about half of the coolant replaced and then do that every year. Any better ideas out there as to how I can keep a healthy cooling system with basic tools ??

good question on the block plug, on the older L98/Lt1 and LT4 you just removed the knock sensors.. but the LS1 is a different animal..

or just change what you can..
