High Mileage C5 Owners-

How many miles do you have on your C5 and what issues have you had. I'm looking at a 90k-110k C5 Z06- and wondering if these cars can do 150k without issues?

I have 66k miles on mine, but then again, I just bought it in Feb with 63.5k miles

I think a well taken care of car will always be good for high miles.. of course vettes do have many many electrical sensors and components, so I guess minute things can and will go wrong periodically.. but you should go by written records of the car and check out the previous owner...

it is inconceivable that a Z06 with high miles has not been gunned many many time during its life so far, so as with any used car, do the carfax, due dilligence and have a qualified vette mechanic take a "buyers check" look at it...

104,000 miles and counting. If you do a search for the posts I've started, you'll find every problem I've had. Pretty much all of them are the normal C5 issues that you will find in the C5 sticky thread that talks about the common C5 issues.

You have some reading to do.

Just over 115k on my 02Z. You can see my mods. Most of which were done around 75k miles. I've had a clutch go, which was right around the normal time not to mention I added a little more hp/tq than it was good for. The Water pump went same time I installed cam. At most my Springs/Shocks need to be replaced now, but I am not the easiest on this car. I really enjoy taken the corners hard on my way home and my way to work. This car has been VERY Reliable. That's my .02 anyway.

Josh

Just curious, but what is the offer for a 100k+ mile Z06 these days? If you don't mind.

it has 111k miles and wants 19500- although I don't think it's worth more than 16k and I wouldn't offer more than that. But it's very clean and the Blue color I'm looking for.

Ok, My KBB is about 15k, so maybe if it's really nice 16,500. High mileage cars just aren't great on re-sale. Does the owner have anything done to it? or stock?

That seems alittle steep for the mileage. I picked up my 01 Z for 20900 and it has 28xxx. You can probably talk him down a couple thousand.

I would think so. You may have clutch work to do, but 150k miles should be no problem for the LS6.

LOL! Properly maintained look at 200-300k plus w/out MAJOR issues.

Alt, belts, brakes, water pumps yes.....but the motors & drivetrain have yet to show anything less.

We tear down 100-150-200k plus LS engines run w/good syn & see almost NO wear period.

Then again, we see some cheap guy's run dino oil w/out reg changes and they are wore out in 100k miles.

I agree with ya on the price. Also, as others have said you can expent tons o miles from a properly maintained vehicle. I dont remember weather it was this forum or another one, but Im sure I remember finding a thread on high mileage c5s. As SC2150 said, 200K is common and totaly doable. Gives me hope for getting a newer vette of my own one day

I purchased my 99 FRC a year ago this month with about 97k. I know have about 103k and the issues Ive had are the oil sensor has gone out twice and just this morning my steering column lock started acting up. Other then that Ive made sure to do all required maintenance and she runs like a champ.

From an engine standpoint, I can tell you that an LS-1 with regular oil changes can go at least 93k without noticeable oil consumption. My Z28 had that many miles when I traded it and I always filled the emptied oil bottles with the same amount of oil that came out of them. How much longer that would be true, I can't tell you.
