Sounds like it's getting caught in power saver mode. My Vizio used to do that. I had to change a setting in the menu to make it stop.

None, it got repossessed

Sounds like one of a few issues: 1. An overheating problem (unlikely because it keeps turning off and then on again). 2. An internal power supply problem, similiar to a short. If you're not mechanically inclined I suggest you take the set to a repair shop. 3. A defective remote that is emitting continuous IR signals or it's picking up stray IR blaster signals. Try covering the IR receiver and see what happens.

raidmagic.....screen doesn't show at all so im not able to access my menu.

Poncherello...i thought it of a short but tv is hooked up to a surge protector and it was working fine the previous day. you have a point with your 3rd issue cuz a week or two ago as i was scrolling through the guide it just kept scrolling forever even as i tried to exit, problem is i have a fancy Logitech remote that i really don't know how to use, guess im gonna have to call Geek squad, i love and hate technology

Take the batteries out of the remote and turn it on using the TV control panel. That will tell you if the remote is suspect.

I just had my 53" Projection TV do the same thing. For $300 more than they wanted to fix it I bought a new Panasonic 50 Plasma HDTV on sale. Took me two hours to saw that TV down into pieces small enough to fit in mu dumpster - could not even find someone to haul it off!

I tried that here, but we have a MDS - more likely that you will find items "deposited" on your sidewalk every morning?

Im guessing its the transformer is out, they have an autotransformer that has several diffrent tap points for the secondary, and the lower voltage parts may still work like sound, and higher along the windings there may be a break, or short. Of course, not having it in front of me there is a significant chance I'm wrong. I also suggest repair shop, not just for difficulty, but the danger issue, lots of HIGH voltages in there.

@Choreo: the MRS has taken care of countless furniture through the years for me, never had a name for it tho!

Happy fixing,

Unplug it from the battery backup and plug it directly to the wall. The problem could be the surge protector.

Sorry to report, but it's a common problem with LG LCD screens. I've seen your exact same thing happen to a couple LG owners. Their power supply bit the dust for the backlight.

It will NOT be a cheap fix if not under warranty. (Yeah I'm a ball of sunshine)

These guys can help you out best:
