I bought a Blu Ray player used it twice...it sits next to the Bose and never gets used. Good old DVD's are good enough for me. as a matter of fact the Bose wasn't the best decision either. I have a couple of cheaper surround sounds in other rooms and they seem to work just as good as the Bose.

USB 3.0 will be useful for storage or HD cams only. It is NOT standardized. Intel has stop development of it's 3.0 USB chip.
You buy a blu-ray or TV now, chances are it will be seriously outdated in a few years.
1. LED backlighting TV's that are showing up in droves.
2. There's a new tech they are working on: 3D.
A consortium is hammering out specs for 3D TV @ 120Hz which would require changes to both sets of hardware.
I saw "real 3D" for the first time with "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs" this last Wednesday. My jaw dropped! It was that good. I mean it was the best I ever seen. And in the previews they had no less than 4 movies coming out in 3D.
Toy Story was recently redone in 3D as well and showed this past summer in IMAX theaters.
It may be a fad, but it's a darn impressive one.

I was talking with my 18 year old son this weekend about this very thing. He is very much up on today's technology as far as high def and ultra-high def video including 3D as well as networking and internet video communications & transmissions. I told him to find the weaknesses and needs in each technology and think forward to real life solutions, then try to develop those. That is how new technologies are invented.
I hope he does well doing this!! He has the potential.

I heard that the big ethanol push has helped the distiller industry produce more liquor for less money. Big Liquor is on the cusp of being one of those hated industries like oil, pharma, insurance, energy, and tobacco. Hated both for its size and its grip on the consumer.
Who knows?

The problem with your surround sound is that its a Bose. Or Blose in audio communitys.

JBL does actually make some decent speakers. Thier high end stuff and pro stuff is pretty good.

I agree. Seems like their real high end stuff is really good, but pro-sumer and consumer level stuff just misses the mark of being really good as far as full range sound. Not as bad as Bose is however.
I really like Tannoy when is comes to studio grade speakers and for large audience speakers.
