hey Seth, welcome to DC

Is the sound bar a product offered by a particular vendor? I know several of the guys on here have build their own speaker enclosures. If you do a search in the C3 section you should turn up some cool threads for some inspiration.

Optimists think the glass is half full.
Pessimists think the glass is half empty.
Engineers realize it's twice as big as it needs to be.

Seth-
Good looking Vette in your avatar there.

I have no experience with soundbars installed, but I heard one played on display by a vender at a Vette show, and it sounded kind of boring and flat IMO. It lacked bass.

You could do the same thing by mounting a pair of 6" round speakers in the back corners. I fabbed up custom boxes for a pair of 6x9 in the rear corners of my car, afterward I realized a pair of 6" round would fit it in the stock locations easier and probably sound just as good.

If you want to add some bass, do a search for some custom sub enclosers on here. There are quite a few options.

You can also put a set of plate speakers in the OEM dash speaker holes as well as a 5 1/2 or 6" round in the kick panels.

Amps can be mounted in the jack compartment, in the rear center storage tray, behind the passenger seat, or on the rear wall. Just make sure it has plenty of air movement around it so it does not overheat.

Good to see a teen into old cars, especially Vettes.

Welcome to DC!

If you're looking for sound then a soundbar is good. If you're looking for quality music then you're going to need to explore your options. Plenty of advise on here.

There used to be a vendor that sold some pretty sweet speaker enclosures on Ebay for C3's.

OK here is what I did.. Mine is a 77 so its a little different but not much....

I went with an alpine deck with an ipod controller to put in the back storage area.
I put a set of 6.5 infinity in the front kick panels. .
I had a member make me an awesome sub box that sets in the rear and still gives me room to put my tops in ...
So I have a 10 MBQ sub with a 600 watt 4 channel kenwood amp... And let me tell you it is the most you will ever need.. And I have less than 1000 in the system..

I've got the same head unit and kick panel speakers!
With my additional 6x9 in the rear and the plate speakers in the dash and a 500w amp, I'm surrounded by sound. I made my sub removable in case I need to haul a cooler or something larger than t tops.

I also have a 79 that is still a work in progress. Here are a couple pics of what I did. I'm doing this kinda backwards, cuz I don't have a radio installed yet. But I got this speaker box off of Ebay. Then I had it covered in vinyl by a local upholstery shop (it wasn't much). Then you can put however much sound you want into it.

Good luck

Kory

Well, the whole picture uploading thing didn't work out. If you go to my profile, you should be able to see 'em there. I'm still trying to figure this out, lol.
