Stuck Hood on 84 C4

I just bought my first Vette (an 84), and the left hood latch won't release (I know the cable is broken). I have bought a replacement cable set, and the MAGIC C4 HOOD OPENING TOOL!!

Problem is, the MAGIC C4 HOOD OPENING TOOL doesn't work.

I have even tried it on the passenger side (the one with the good cable) to no avail.

So.....is there any other way that someone can tell me that will pop this @##$% hood?

Hmm... the tool is supposed to do it.

Maybe someone with hands-on tool experience (no... not THAT kind of tool) can give you some advice.

Hood Stuck 84 C4

Per instructions, I am turning the tool clockwise 180 degrees, and then turn back coutnter clockwise to attempt to move the hood latch in. While I do encounter some moving resistance up to about 45 degrees of movement, there is no effect on the hood. I have had my wife attempt to push down on the hood while rotating the tool, but this had no affect, either.

Thumbs down! GOT IT!!

Finally got it open (with the tool)

For those who may run into the same problem, the trick is to turn the tool so that it points downward when the tool is in the latch carrier, but forward of the latch itself. Then pull the tool back to where the marking on the tool lines up with the window weatherstrip. At this point. the end of the tool should be securely wedged between the latch and carrier. Turning the tool counterclockwise will pop the hood at this point.

Thanks for the rescue attempts, and the welcome.
