Fronts are 18x8 with 4.750" Backspacing(Had them made to clear C5 brakes)
Rears are 18x10 with 4.50" Backspacing(Had them made to clear LS1 brakes)

I don't want to run spacers... I can be patient for the right rims with the correct backspacing.

So what are the ideal backspacings for 17" or 18" rims for a 77 Corvette?

What are the ideal tire sizes? I plan to lower the car an inch or so... don't want any rubbing issues...

Thanks guys!!

Billsvette covered the needed backspace in his post.
OEM was 4" with an 8" wide rim.
Desired backspace will depend on what width you are running.

18x8 front with 4" back space and 18x10 with a 5"-5.5" backspace will work fine. Any more backspace and you may have rub issues. On the rear, if you want to lower the car, you'll probably want the 5.5" so the tire tucks under the car further.

FYI- On the rear, you'll probably need to move the parking brake bracket and could have clearance issues with your sway bar. Some guys remove the rear sway bar or modify it.

Tire size is discretional and will depend on what overall diameter and width you want. I like either a 245/40/18 front and a 275/40/18 rear combo or a 255/40/18 and a 295/35/18 combo.

Guys,

Can I go 245 or 255/45/18 up front and 285/40/18 or 295/40/18 in the back without rubbing issues? I want to put as much tire in there as possible but don't want anything sticking out either... lmk

V/R,
Ty
285 will be tight. 295...probably a bit wide without sticking out some. I'm running a 285 on 10" and it's a bit meaty.

Again-with any of these tires on a 10" rear, you may have to remove your sway bar and move the parking brake bracket.
