Halo LEDs

Aloha gang,
Anyone have em? I just ordered a set from our vendor Corvette garage. I need brighter tail lights because the stock ones just don't shine thru my blackouts well enough. Especially in the morning hours when the car behind me also has the sun in their face. I have been putting this off because I just don't drive my car as much as I want too.

Sure do
But mine are Sequential LED's with the (RadioFlyer) Halo mod, diamond cut corners, sides and reverse awaiting LED bulbs. Did not realize a vendor was selling LED tails with the (RadioFlyer) Halo wiring mod.

I'd show you a picture of my butt lit up .....but due to winter hibernation coverage and placement of the Z's butt towards backside of garage, just not possible at this time.

I know I have pictures of my butt at work

Butt wait, I know MrVette83 took an absolutely Kick Ass picture of my butt at the 2011 C5/C6 Museum Bash

Never had a problem with the LED's for 3 years until I had to replace the left front daylight/directional bulb (burnt out). Then it became a continous occurance. I figured I was just making more Left than Right turns I became so proficent at replacing front bulbs, I then decided to change to clear diamond cut corners with the stealth bulbs (no egg yoke effect). But even those bulbs will soon be replaced with switchback's during this winter hybernation.

Yes, I did eventually install the hyperflash harness (simple plug-n-play) when I performed the Halo mod and added the sequential (shhhh.....shelby) operation and have not replaced a bulb or had hyperflash since.
Enjoy them

Hum, i have LED bulbs now they came with a little harness with a resistor. The outside light on both side uses one harness/ resistor. Prevents hyPerflash, wonder if it will work with the halos. I'll have to research the halo mod

The resistors will work. Long story short, I tried to find the specs on those resistors previously and was forwarded to the hyperflash harness which plugs into the 4-way flasher wiring next to and below steering column. The halo wire jumper mod did work without it, but I really needed the hyperflash for the sequential mod to work and save my front bulbs..

Kool, thanks for the tips. I have blackouts to cover my lights might try window tint though. So maybe the halo mod isnt critical for me, just need the brake light to shine thru the blackouts during the day, the stock lights dont cut it, and the LED bulbs for the tail lights are not as bright as the halo light kit.

Had them for several years now - one of the best mods I made. No hyperflash for the first couple years, then started getting it under certain conditions - usually upon starting the engine with the blinker left on when I shut the car off. Installed the Hyperflash harness in the dash - no more problems... and "yes" they are bright!

Just picked those up at ACE Hardware - they have black and white screw-caps in all sizes here locally. I also purchased the "security" screws you see there - anything to make a thief's job harder.

Choreo, noticed we have the same clear backup lenses. Just wondered if you have tried any LED backup bulbs or if they get to hot and discolor the clear lenses??

......I had a neighbor that installed a rather large muti "star" LED backup bulb in the original lense which was far to big and too close to the plastic, distorting the OEM lense color.

Yes, I tried LED Back-Up bulbs and did some testing. They were brighter to look at but they did not throw out as much light behind the car as the standard bulbs, so I went back to standard the first day. There are several reasons for that, but LEDs are very bright to look at which makes them a great choice for stop-lights, turn-signals, decoration, etc., but they are not very great to "see" by.

As far as "heat", they should put of less?

So, if you want to impress someone with how bright your back-up light are, the LEDs are great, but if you want to be able to actually see better when backing up, I prefer standard bulbs. There is also the color temperature issue and for some people (like me) the color of the light produced by the LEDs is not as conducive to actually "seeing" well.

Wow, super easy mod. Got them and had them on the car in about 20 mins. They have little stepdown transformers on the back of each light, so I didn't install the resistor kit I have. The blinkers worked just fine the few times I tried them. The damn things look way better in person, almost don't want to put the blackout covers back on. Ha. Ha

Glad to know it was not just me and my bifocals that reached the same conclusion
