Spark plug help
OK guys, I know this is stupid but man o man has this got me confused. I want to change the plugs in my C5 as I'm at 100 thousand miles and don't know when or if they have ever been changed. I took one out and it really doesn't look all that bad but here's the problem.
My shop manual says plugs are AC PTJ16R15. Checking at the local parts store the guy says they should be AC 41-110. AC/Delco website says they should be 41-805 but what's in the car right now is AC 41-974.
What the heck???? A set of plugs shouldn't be this tough to figure out. I would like to stay with ACs but I need a correct number.

There have been 3 or 4 part numbers used over the years, each replacing the previous. That is the source of all the confusion.

The 41-110 are the latest revision. I checked when I did mine and verified it again before I posted.

OK so 41-110 it is. Thank you for that. Now, are they supposed to be gaped at .060 or should they be gaped according to the service bulletin I saw on line of .040?

Verify the gap at .040 set from the factory and install with 1 drop of synthetic oil on the threads. Torque to 11 ft lbs. The electroplating on the spark plug threads IS an antiseize coating so none is required.

OK great. Many thanks for all the info. Are these plugs better to run than platinum or iridium types? Just thinking' these are not too tough to change but not exactly easy either. Mabie a plug that lasts longer would be better. Your thoughts and or experiences please.

The plug that I posted IS the Iridium plug, and you're supposed to b able to get 100,000 miles out of it. I know I got that out of my first set.

How to determine the need to change plugs
My early C6 Z51 has 146K miles and starts and drives just as strong as the day it was delivered. I bought a set of plugs when it turned 100K but I am waiting for any sign that they NEED to be changed. On my C3 it's easy to detect a spark plug misfire and I change them very regularly. I've been very impressed with how long most all the engine parts last on the C6 (brake pads and rotors lasted 133K, harmonic balancer pulley 143K, oil 13K on average, etc.).
So what prompted you to change your plugs?
