8 Speed in the C7 ... but not the one you thought

Many expected the C7 would offer GMs new 8A eight-speed automatic transmission. Rumor (MT too) that GM will not finish developing the new transmission in time for the C7's debut. For the first year of the C7, an Aisin eight-speed transmission will fill that bill. Aisin will also provide the ATS and the CTS trannies short term.

Truck trannies not mentioned.

Normally the stuff that Motor Trend post are way off the wall and obviously false.

However this seems to have some legs to it, I can understand why they would make this choice if their own 8 speed will not be ready at launch.

If true, this could be one of those cool "Corvette Trivia" questions down the road. But for now, the question will be....Which one should you go with? Do you buy the 2014 and have the ONLY year model Vette with that transmission? OR, do you wait for the 2015? The good with waiting would be that you would have the transmission that will be in Corvettes for years and years to come. At the parts counter down the road, that matters (and when modifying now). BUT, do you want the very first year for a 8 speed transmission that GM has not wrecklessly rushed (or else they would have forced it to be ready for 2014!), but clearly GM wants it out -quickly-?

Does not matter to ME, as I have not owned a vehicle with an automatic for 26 years. But I thought it was interesting to consider.....
