1966 327 300 HP Cooling Problem

Hey there here is my problem. I've replaced the radiator (new), water pump (new), thermostat (180 degree), flushed the block, I got a rad shroud, and a flex fan. but it still over heats. I can feel water going thru the hoses and can see water going thru the overflow tank.

I'm starting to think that as it's a 1966 model it's just going thru menopause and I should fill the damn tank with estrogen.

Any ideas would be helpful.

If your cooling system is new and up to par it is now time to look at the block. Start with how it is running. Is your timing right or to advanced? Is your carb set up right and not too lean? You might have blocks in your coolant passages in your motor.

Also you said you have a new flex fan, does it have a clutch? IS the clutch confirmed good?

What Raid said... timing advance and retard working, Check for vacuum leaks, and compression check...

Is it overheating at idle or while driving? What temp is it reaching?

I had an overheating problem on my 69 Camaro & was told by several mechanics to get rid of the flex fan & get a regular steel fan. It helped but I ended up having to go with an electric fan to make it cool properly. But if your car is mostly stock the mech fan should work but the flex fans can flatten out & not move as much air. This may not be your only problem but I'm just passing along what I was told.

Is it blowing water past the cap when it's overheating? The aftermarket temp sensors are notoriusly inaccurate. I had this problem and traced it to the sender. IR guns are a lot of help and pretty cheap.
Hope you can slove this.
