Great photos! I'm struck by the fact that nearly no one is smiling in any of the pictures. The exception are the three tank crew members. The message of the whole thing to me is how good we have it now. In those days, America was a place to simply survive for the average person. Today, most everyone can thrive - even the poorest of us. Thanks for posting!
