In January 36 Obama aides owed $833,000 in back taxes

Funny, how this went relatively unreported back in January

Quote:
How embarrassing this must be for President Obama, whose major speech theme so far this campaign season has been that every single American, no matter how rich, should pay their "fair share" of taxes.

Because how unfair -- indeed, un-American -- it is for an office worker like, say, Warren Buffet's secretary to dutifully pay her taxes, while some well-to-do people with better educations and higher incomes end up paying a much smaller tax rate.

Or, worse, skipping their taxes altogether.

A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama's executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share apparently haven't paid any share, let alone their fair share.

Previous reports have shown how well-paid Obama's White House staff is, with 457 aides pulling down more than $37 million last year. That's up seven workers and nearly $4 million from the Bush administration's last year.

No problem. These guys have it all figured out. Job one for them is raising taxes on everyone else. That will more than make up for what they owe.

Oops. How'd this information slip out?

You'd think this would have been kept from ever surfacing.

The tax scheme needs to be re-done. Too easy to cheat, or not even pay taxes depending on who you are. I'd like to be like GE and not eve pay taxes.

The House wants to fire them.. Obama needs to talk to them about the whole "Fair Share" bs.

Bill passes House that would terminate federal employees with back taxes

More than 98,000 federal civilian employees owed more than $1 billion in unpaid federal income taxes in 2010, according to the IRS. The average delinquency rate was 3.33 percent.

The amount owed in back taxes by federal employees has increased by nearly 72 percent since 2004.

It would so easy in my position to not pay taxes. No W2. International contract. Money deposited into a overseas account and wire transfers are not on the radar.

I like to sleep at night though.

Smart move! Getting in a tangle with the IRS is a lose-lose situation. I owed some back taxes about 5 years ago,...not much, only a few thousand, but it was a TOTAL nightmare trying to get things straightend out. Even after I had paid them in full, it took another 6 months for things to clear. Everytime I'd call, I'd get a new customer service rep, and they all had different information regarding my balance.

Seeing that the current tax system keeps people poorer, I doubt if they change it anytime soon.
